The Red Fantail Goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus) is a breed of goldfish known for their classic round fancy goldfish shape, twin tales, and bright orange-red colour. The very ends of their tails may be red, white, or black.

THESE ANIMALS CANNOT LIVE IN BOWLS. Please do not purchase these animals if you intend to keep them in anything smaller than 20 gallons. It is cruel to keep these animals in tanks/bowls that are too small.

Red Fantail goldfish grow to an average of 8 inches from nose to tail-tip, with some individuals getting much longer. The tank needs to be large enough to accommodate the size of the animal. It is recommended 20 gallons for 1 (one) goldfish, with an additional 10 gallons for every one additional goldfish. Keeping these animals in a small container will lead to disease, deformities, and painful premature death. These animals are a large commitment, as they live for 20+ years.

Goldfish can flourish in a wide variety of temperatures, from coldwater to tropical water. This makes them an ideal animal to live in a pond. Keeping them in warm water drastically increases the amount of waste they produce, so cold water is recommended.

Strong filtration is necessary for goldfish. It is recommended to use filtration rated for at least twice the tank size they're kept in (example; a 20-gallon aquarium should have filters rated for a 40-gallon aquarium). An airstone should be provided in addition to filtration, as they require well-oxygenated water to survive. Goldfish should ideally only be kept with other goldfish breeds.
