Anubias barteri 'Butterfly' is an exceptionally hardy, slow-growing, epiphyte cultivar of the standard Anubias barteri family. It is named for its unique, broad, slightly wavy, heart-shaped leaves that resemble the spread wings of a butterfly.
Essential Care & Requirements
- Placement: Midground or background. Secure it directly to driftwood, stones, or hardscape.
- Critical Rule: Do not bury the horizontal rhizome (main root structure) in substrate, or the plant will rot and die.
- Lighting: Low to moderate. Avoid high lighting, which promotes yellowing leaves and green spot algae growth.
- CO2 & Fertilizers: Not required. It thrives in low-tech setups, though liquid fertilizer and CO2 injection will accelerate its naturally slow growth rate.
Propagation
Propagating this plant is simple. Use sterilized scissors to cut the horizontal rhizome into separate sections. Ensure each cut piece retains at least 2 to 3 healthy leaves so it can photosynthesize and generate new root growth
