The Molly (Poeciliidae sp.) is a large live-bearing tropical fish. It has a wide variety of colour and fin mutations, making them a popular option for the tropical aquarium. This listing is for Balloon Mollies of assorted colorations. Balloon Mollies have shorter bodies and rounder bellies compared to other mollies. We frequently get Balloon Mollies that are Black, Dalmatian, Pearl, Orange, and Creamsicle in our "assorted" batches.

These hardy and easy-to-care-for fish will live for up to 5 years if cared for properly. Mollies prefer to be kept in groups of 3 or more. Males generally reach 3.5 inches in length, while females generally grow to 4 inches in length from nose to tail. These fish require tropical water temperatures from the low-to-high 70’s. Because of their size and high activity level, we recommend a small group of 3 mollies be kept in no less than 15 gallons of water. They do best in water that is alkaline, but are able to adapt to different pH levels if acclimated to them.

These fish will live comfortably with other peaceful, community fish species. Avoid any particularly small fish, such as chili rasboras or ruby tetra, as they might become food for a fully-grown molly. Avoid any fish that are much larger or aggressive. While mollies themselves are not particularly aggressive, they can start becoming territorial if their tank is too small. Always keep more females than males (ideally a 3:1 female-to-male ratio), as the males tend to harass the females.
