The Dwarf Gourami (Trichogaster Ialius) is a small, peaceful species of gourami. While they come in many different patterns and colours, this listing is for the "Red Fire" variety; these fish have primarily red-orange bodies and blue dorsal fins. Very little, if any blue at all is present on the body. This listing is for male Dwarf Gourami only.
While 5 gallons is the minimum for a single dwarf gourami, 10 gallons is definitely preferred. They thrive in water temperatures from the low-70's to low-80's. These fish, when well cared for, will live for 5 years on average. These fish rarely exceed 4 inches in length.
These fish are omnivores and will eat their food directly from the surface of the water. They should not be kept with other top-dwelling fish such as danios. These fish are quite shy and easily overwhelmed, as a result, they should not be kept with tankmates that are too energetic or nippy. They can live peacefully with most other communal peaceful fish species.
While these fish are generally hardy, they are still sensitive to changes in water parameters. These fish should only be added to a completely cycled aquarium.
